Ramadan Kareem

The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful.

Quran 2 : 185

“Shahr Ramadan Kareem wa Mubarak !”

This is the phrase the imam started his speech with in the mosque today, during the Friday prayer. Jumu’a was the “doubtful day” in which we check if we can see the new moon of the month of Ramadan and today – Saturday is the first day of Ramadan… We are fasting as well as our ancestors have been fasting, following the Quran or the Bible or the Torah; every People of The Book (of God) performed fasting – not eating…

This is my third Ramadan that I am fasting in the hot summer that could be seen very challenging; however, I see no problem with that. In contrary, not eating and not drinking have a much greater reward in the hot weather that makes you hungry and thirsty and you still hild your instincts. But step by step Ramadan will occur in the winter that is a way easier people say; whereas, I think it is worse, because by the sunset you can find yourself at the workplace 5 o’clock, not at home 8 o’clock.

Thus, this holy month is which Quran revealed in, which obliges you to fast, which warns you to read Quran and worship the Creator. Also, this is the month of special meals, so you can find the markets and the shops full of people to do their shopping foe the big lunch. Here, it is said that from the big ferocious hunger, people just buy anything they desire in the moment of hunger then those all food is going to be in waste…
My preparation was made of finishing university and getting along with some social relation to have a peaceful fasting.. We visited the grandparents, buying them some starting stuffs and solving family problems among us.. I prepared some Arabic stories to learn and I am up to tide and paint the whole house. Also, I wrote a couple of verses to welcome this holy month:

The sky and earth are still far away,
The sweet and salty are still different,
Humans are born in one ingredient,
Only God can strike difference.

I implore you, don’t stray astray,
Accept the holy month of Ramadan,
Be patient from adan to adan,
Glorify and worship in repentance.

Every creature’s selfish in a way,
But they’ll never be self-sufficient,
Thus, thank the gift Allah sent,
By fasting the Holy Ramadan.

Ya Ramadan, Marhaban.
